The therapeutic potential of cannabidiol (CBD) is now well-known for humans. We understand plenty about how the cannabinoid, which is from hemp but causes no psychoactive side effects, impacts us like it does. But the endocannabinoid system (ECS) is not exclusive to humans – our pets have them too.
CBD oil for pets – why does it work?
The ECS is very important for our overall health. The system has an impact pretty much everywhere. Notably, the ECS is active in the central nervous system and influences our immune system. Keeping it regulated ensures mood remains stable, pain is not too intense, and we aren’t subjected to excessive inflammation. The same applies to pets.
Start off your dog with low doses of CBD. Smaller dogs should be given one or two sprays on their meal. Larger dogs can be given three or four without issues. There’s no exact blueprint – just use the same caution that you did when you first took CBD.
